Leslie Hammons Dr. William Dean Management 24 October 2013 Diversified Management There are multitudes of cultures in businesses creating diverse working conditions in companies large and small. Therefore in management it is vital for leaders to be diverse in their management and communication techniques. Because each individual is uniquely different, it is essential that managers understand their role in creating peaceful working environments with effective communication, compassion and understanding for each worker’s background. This paper will outline topics such as; the importance of effective communication, employee development and coaching. It will also analyze different management styles and discuss why each manager should mix†¦show more content†¦Employee development and coaching are important to those workers who want to ensure that they have a long term career with the company they are employed with at the present; or for those employees who want to improve on skills they possess or obtain new skills for positions t hey want in the future. Coaching is different from managing and this is another reason why it is important for mangers to understand the difference between the two and to also understand that they must be diversified in their techniques when it comes to both. Managing is typically more focused on certain areas such as meeting deadlines, making sure that the employees understand the company’s vision, mission and values, whereas, coaching is a conversation between a manager and his employee. Coaching can begin when both parties understand that there is a need for coaching and both are receptive to the idea. As Chandler states in his book, The Hands-Off Manager, â€Å"Coaching is a conversation between two individuals. Coaching is about two people achieving synergy in a beautifully hands-off way. In coaching, you might pull someone aside who is struggling and say, are you open to some coaching on this? Once the person says yes, the coaching process can begin (Chandler 185). Martin Fletchers Portrayal of Religion in Almost Heaven...

In order to properly analyze Martin Fletchers portrayal of religion in his first book, the travel-based work of non-fiction Almost Heaven: Travels Through the Backwoods of America, it is essential to elucidate his general purpose and path in embarking on this literary and literal journey. Fletcher is a British citizen who had been stationed in Washingtons District of Columbia for several years prior to engaging on his trek across the U.S. As such, he informs the reader early on in the manuscript that he sought those places he had either reported about or heard about during his tenure as a reporter. One of his goals was to travel to places that were off the proverbial beaten track, cities and small town areas in which tourists do not visit, and which many Americans who do not happen to live there are not even aware of. As such, it is fairly apparent that his goal is to find as many people and events taking place in these areas that are non-traditional as possible the fact that many of them happen to pertain to religion only emphasizes their exotic nature, particularly to other conventionally conservative Europeans. In this respect, the reader can infer (if from nothing else than from the title alone) that the author will portray religion in a decidedly light-hearted manner although the author seems to even surprise himself in uncovering a religious conviction even he cannot deny at times. Answer: Introduction: By definition, a disruptive innovation is one that has the potential to disrupt the market. Typically, these are the products that create the new market and new value network (Chiesa, 2016). The products that fall under the category of disruptive innovation would attract altogether a new customer base. One of the basic things that differentiate disruptive innovation from traditional innovative products is the focus on market development. Apples I phone is a phenomenal product. However, it would be little too aggressive to put it under the category of disruptive innovation. I Phone is a product in the smart phone industry. When Apple launched I Phone, the market was already there. I Phone should not be put under the category of disruptive innovation because Apple did not focus on extensive market development with I Phone. Apple concentrated its efforts on product development (DeWitt, 2015). Though, there was certain amount of market development involved; however, I phone has to compet e with other players like Samsung in a known market. Generally, the new startup companies launch the disruptive products or disruptive innovation. However, Apple was an established company when it launched I Phone. Therefore, it may not be entirely correct to put I Phone in the category of disruptive innovation (DeWitt, 2015). I Phone made things better for the customers in the existing market but it did not disrupt the market with complete altogether new product.
